President Barzani Inaugurates the Security Council of the Kurdistan Region | |
Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, ( President Masoud Barzani attended the opening ceremony of the Security Council of the Kurdistan Region, an institution which will be part of the Kurdistan Region Presidency.  The meeting was attended by senior security officials of the Kurdistan Region.  The new council will combine three main responsibilities: security, military intelligence, and the supervision of existing intelligence services.  In his remarks today in Salahadin, President Barzani noted that this council will further unite the Kurdish government and bring the Kurdistan Region closer to complete reunification.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Masrour Barzani, whom the President has appointed to head the council. In his remarks, Masrour Barzani praised the efforts of the Kurdistan Region's security services and expressed his utmost gratitude to the people of the Kurdistan Region for their  instrumental role in maintaining the Region's sterling security record.
